Alba e Lucía, coas pedras contahistorias, inventaron un conto entre as duas. O título é "Un día no campo" e fixeron unha animación en stop motion.

Croquis-mural do noso río / Sketch-poster of our river

Unha das actividades que temos feito nas saídas ao río é a elaboración dun croquis, que fomos mellorando en cada unha delas. A partir del os alumnos e alumnas de 1º de ESO estiveron pasando este croquis a tamaño grande como se dun mural se tratase. Aquí podedes ver unhas fotos do seu traballo.

One of the activities we have done in our trips to the river is drawing up a sketch, which we improved  in each of the outings. From it, the students of 1st ESO were enlarging it as if it was a poster. Here you can see some photos of their work.

Pedras que contan historias / Stones that tell stories

O río Lamas garda moitas sorpresas. Hoxe imos desvelar unha delas...Ten pedras que contan historias!! Bueno, contan historias con un pouco de axuda, claro. Alba e Lucía alumnas de G.E. de 1º da ESO están axudando a esas pedras a que conten historias. De momento están en proceso. Prometemos mantervos informados cos progresos das pedras contadoras de historias.

The river Lamas hides many surprises. Today we are going to reveal one of them ... It has got stones that tell stories! Well, they tell stories with a little help, of course. Alba and Lucia and students of  G.E. 1 ESO are helping those stones to tell stories. Right now they are in the process. We promise to keep you informed with the progress of the storyteller stones.

Xa temos maqueta do noso río! / We have our model of the river!

Os rapaces de 3º e 4º da ESO veñen de rematar a maqueta que estiveron facendo en Plástica do noso tramo do río Lamas. Aquí podedes ver o magnífico resultado.

The boys in 3rd and 4th of ESO have just finished the model that they have been doing in the Arts lesson of our section of the River Lamas. Here you can see the magnificent result.

Observación de microorganismos de auga doce / Observation of freshwater microorganisms

Durante a nosa visita ao rio Lamas recollemos varias mostras de auga e sedimentos para a súa posterior observación no laboratorio.O grupo de alumnos de 2º de ESO está a traballar na aula a unidade didáctica relativa aos ecosistemas e resúltalles moi doado recoñecer as diferentes formas de vida que se poden observar a simple vista no ecosistema do río. Con esta actividade pretendemos achegalos á observación dos seres vivos “que non se ven” pero que tamén teñen a súa función nos ecosistemas acuáticos. Realizamos unha observación directa ao microscopio óptico das diferentes mostras e observamos a presenza de numerosas formas de vida, entre as que recoñecemos sen dificultade diferentes tipos de protozoos e algas: Colpidium, Paramecium, Chlorella, Euglena,Closterium, Synura e diferentes tipos de diatomeas
During our visit to the river Lamas we collected several water and sediment samples for later analysis in the laboratory. The group of students in 2nd ESO is working in the classroom on  the teaching unit on ecosystems and they find it very easy to recognize the various forms of life that can be seen with the naked eye in the river ecosystem. With this activity we intend to get them to a closer observation of living things "unseen" but also have their role in aquatic ecosystems. We performed a direct observation under the microscope of the different samples and observed the presence of many forms of life, including these,  we recognized without difficulties different types of protozoa and algae: Colpidium, Paramecium, Chlorella, Euglena, Closterium, Synura and different 
type of diatoms

Analise da auga no laboratorio / Analysis of water in the laboratory

Os alumnos de 3º da ESO aproveitaron a nosa última visita ao río Lamas para recoller mostras de auga para a súa posterior análise no laboratorio de Física e Química. Primeiramente recopilaron información sobre como realizar a mostraxe, posteriormente, xa no rio, recolleron auga en 3 puntos diferentes do tramo escollido e finalmente, xa de volta no instituto, no laboratorio fixeron o seguinte estudo:
 -. Unha separación dos sólidos en suspensión mediante filtración e cálculo cuantitativo mediante pesada do filtro antes e despois de filtrar.
 -. Cálculo do residuo seco mediante evaporación.

The students of 3rd ESO took advantage of our last visit to the river Lamas and collected water samples for subsequent analysis in the laboratory of physics and chemistry. First theycollected information on how to perform sampling, later, in the river, they collected water at three different points of the chosen stretch and finally, back in school,  they made ​​the following study in the laboratory:

-. A separation of suspended solids by filtration and quantitative calculation by heavy filter before and after filtering.

-. Calculating the residue dried by evaporation.

 
 

As caixas niño xa están listas /The nest boxes are now ready

Unha das actividades que estiveron a facer os alumnos de 2º da ESO na materia de Tecnoloxías foi a construción de caixas niño para aves paseriformes. Escolleron un  modelo de caixa axeitado para estas pequenas aves que habitan nos bosques de ribeira, polo tanto cunha pequena entrada. A madeira elixida foi de piñeiro sen tratar. Realizaron os planos en función das medidas escollidas. Remataron o traballo de taller coa montaxe das caixas en grupos de tres alumnos que tiveron que distribuír as tarefas para facer o traballo de xeito máis eficiente.

E para finalizar colocáronse nas árbores do noso tramo de río nas que tiñamos colocado as caixas refuxio de morcegos para facilitar a súa revisión en próximas visitas.

One of the activities of the students of 2nd ESO in the class of technology was building nest boxes for passerine birds. They chose a box model suitable for these small birds that live in the riverside woods, so with a small entrance. The wood  chosen was untreated pine. They made plans based on the measures chosen. They finished the work in the workshop by assembling the boxes in groups of three students who had to distribute tasks to do the job more efficiently. 

And finally they placed them in the trees of our stretch of the river where we had placed the boxes for bats for an easy review in future visits.

 

De novo na prensa local / Again in the local media

As actuacións que se están a facer no río Lamas teñen sempre unha repercusión mediática que non podiamos nin imaxinar cando comenzamos con este proxecto o curso pasado.
Desta vez o diario El Progreso na sua edición do día 22 de maio, recolle a segunda intervención deste curso e ilústrana coa foto de grupo despois da recollida de lixo.

The actions that are being done in the river Lamas always have a media coverage that we could not even imagine when we started this project last year. 
This time the newspaper El Progreso in its edition of May 22, includes the second intervention of this year and they illustrate it with the group photo after the garbage collection.

Os alumnos de 3º PDC levan todo o curso axudándonos coa versión inglesa das nosas entradas. Tiveron moito traballo, porque non é doado traducir, pero fixéronno moi ben e puxeron moito interese. Si queredes aprender cómo se din en inglés moitas das cousas que teñen que ver co noso río Lamas, non tedes máis que preguntarlles a eles.

The students in 3rd PDC have been helping with the English version of our posts all the year. They had a lot of work because it is not easy to translate, but they did it very well and have a lot of interest. Fabricación dunha lupa para móbil / Manufacture of a magnifying glass for a mobile

Os rapaces e rapazas de 4º da ESO estiveron construíndo lupas para Smartphone e así poder utilizalas nas nosas saídas ao río e tamén para o traballo no laboratorio de Ciencias Naturais. O resultado é este:
The boys and girls of 4 ESO were building magnifiers for Smartphone so we can use them in our river trips and also for work in the laboratory of Natural Sciences. The result is this:

Os rapaces e rapazas de 4º da ESO veñen de rematar o folleto informativo sobre o noso río Lamas que estaban a preparar na materia de Lingua Castelá.

The boys and girls of 4th of ESO have already finished the leaflet on our river Lamas which they were preparing in the Spanish Language Class. Here you have the result!

VISITA DE PRIMAVERA AO RÍO LAMAS / SPRING VISIT TO THE RIVER LAMAS

Onte fixemos a segunda visita do curso ao noso tramo apadriñado do río Lamas, na localidade de Cereixido.Unha xornada intensa e alegre de traballo de campo.
Desta volta, xunto coa análise da calidade da auga, tanto físico-química como de bioindicadores, e do hábitat, medición do caudal, etc... tamén colocamos as caixas niño para paxaros fabricadas polos alumnos de 2ºESO, que se suman aos refuxios para morcegos que xa tiñamos colocado en anteriores visitas.
O alumnado con licencia de pesca estivo facendo unha xornada de pesca sen morte. Tamén se traballou na xeolocalización de fotos da zona para a materia de Xeografía. Probamos un novo prototipo de lupa para móbil, que funciona moi ben pero haberá que mellorar nalgúns aspectos: xeito de enfoque,... A maiores dos datos de campo recollimos mostras de auga para a súa análise no laboratorio de Bioloxía (microfauna) e Física e Química (residuo seco, valoracións,...).
E coma sempre, rematamos o día recollendo lixo pola beira do río, e aínda moito había!

Yesterday we made the second visit of the year to the section of the river Lamas that we are looking after, in the town of Cereixido. An intense and joyful day of field work .

This time , along with analysis of water quality , both physical chemistry as bio-indicators , and habitat , flow measurement , etc ... we also placed nest boxes for birds made ​​by students of 2nd ESO , in addition to the shelters for bats we had placed in previous visits .

Students with fishing license madea day of fishing without death . We also worked on the geolocation of photos of the area for the Geography class. We tested a new prototype mobile magnifier , it works very well but it will have to be improved in some aspects: how to focus ... As well as the field data we took water samples for analysis in the laboratory of Biology ( microfauna ) and Physics and Chemistry ( dry residue, ratings , ... ) .

And as always , we finished the day picking up trash along the bank of the river , and there was still a lot!

Maqueta do Río Lamas / Scale model of the River Lamas

Os alumnos e alumnas de 3º e 4º da ESO están a traballar na elaboración dunha maqueta a escala 1:2000 da nosa zona de estudo e conservación no Río Lamas. Cando a rematen teñen pensado expoñela na entrada do instituto para amosar esta tramo do río que estamos a custodiar ao resto da comunidade educativa.

The students of 3rd and 4th of ESO are working on developing a 1:2000 scale model of our study and conservation area in the River Lamas. When completed, they plan to expose it in the hall of the school to show this stretch of the river that we are looking after to the rest of the educational community.

Folleto turístico Río Lamas / Lamas River Tourist Brochure

Os rapaces e rapazas de 4º da ESO están a confeccionar un folleto informativo sobre o noso río Lamas. Nel indican a súa situación xeográfica, as rutas turísticas cercanas e as construccións máis senlleiras que se ubican preto do río. Tamén sinalan algúns dos pobos máis importantes da contorna e a historia deles. Non faltan nese tríptico asemade unha referencia á flora e a fauna que arrodea o río Lamas así como algunha cantiga de tradición oral que recolleron das avoas e avós do lugar.
The boys and girls in 4º ESO are putting together a brochure about our Lamas River. It provides information on its geographical location, tourist routes nearby and the most unique buildings that are located near the river. It also points out some of the most important towns of the area and their history. Not lacking in this brochure are a reference to the flora and fauna surrounding the Lamas river and also oral tradition songs collected from the grandmothers and grandfathers in the area. 

Caixas niño para aves / Nest boxes for birds

Despois da última actuación no río Lamas os rapaces e rapazas de 2º ESO empezaron a traballar no taller de tecnoloxía na construcción de caixas niño para aves paseriformes, é dicir para pequenos paxaros como ferreiriños, lavandeiras, etc...
After the last intervention on the river Lamas, the boys and girls in 2º ESO started to work in the technology workshop in the construction of nest boxes for passerines, that is, for small birds like chickadees, wagtails, etc...

Xa lles queda pouquiño para rematar as 7 que colocaremos na vindeira saída ao noso río.
